Theme of the 2017 Edition

Recent European Commission reports show that research and innovation boost economic growth and create high-quality jobs, thus being key to strengthening the EU's role as a global actor. The EU should therefore invest in the future and step up its performance in research and innovation. RTOs are engaged in scaling up Europe's research and innovation capabilities by performing excellent R&D&I and by heavily co-investing in Horizon 2020. The EARTO Annual Conference 2017 will discuss RTOs' key contribution to the European innovation system and explore three main topics:

  • RTOs as Key Drivers of European Critical Technologies Supporting Industry
  • RTOs as Key Drivers of Innovation Hubs Supporting Industry
  • Supporting Future Research & Innovation Policy: H2020 Mid-Term Review towards FP9 & The European Innovation Council

The conference will gather some 200 high-level speakers from EU Institutions, EARTO members and industry, to share their views and experiences on these major topics.

The EARTO Annual Conference 2017 will explore new ways and ideas on how RTOs can further contribute to increasing Europe's innovation capabilities and will look at what are the challenges hindering EU's innovation potential and how RTOs, industry, National and EU policy makers can work together towards more growth and jobs in Europe.
